For those of you who were around in the Seventies, "On the road again" by Canned Heat might still be humming around inside your head. For those who are not familiar with the music, and I suppose that the music is now almost 50 years old, when you get to the end of the article there's a surprise in store for you!!
Apart from re-living some great music from an epoch when music still sounded like music, (ducks head to avoid all the colourful epithets about to be launched in my direction from those born in subsequent generations), I'm moving toward the release of the first book in The Renaissance Brothers Trilogy which has the working title of "The Butcher's boy"
Here's what Beth Jusino from Seattle has to say about it:
Abused and orphaned at thirteen, red-haired Rosso flees his Venetian village with only the clothes on his back and his brother’s bitter threats in his ears. He becomes one of the hundreds of shadowy figures roaming the medieval Italian countryside, threatened by warring kingdoms, deadly plagues, and often one another. But Rosso is not one to give in to suffering or fear, and his new, independent life takes a turn for the better when he meets two fellow travelers who offer him the kind of family he never had.
Jenn Reese, my awesome illustrator, is currently working on the cover of the book, whilst my eminent editor, Kerrie Schurr, finishes off 'polishing' the final book of the Trilogy.
So as well as taking Mr Dickens on the road around Australia and then Europe, The Butcher's Boy should be hitting the publishing road in the very near future in order to be ready for Christmas.
