Writing is a skill, marinated in magic and seasoned by experience. That thought came into my head as some delicious smells waft from the kitchen where my young bride Maggie is creating some culinary exotica! But as my dear old mother-in-law used to say 'back to the story I began.' Mr Dickens is now available in eBook formulation and the official hard-book launch will happen in a couple of months after I've done the ground work of letting all my friends, relations, and contacts know about it. It's been a real eye-opener taking on the self-publisher role. I have to admit to learning several new skills and the delight of meeting such incredibly talented people such as Beth Justino, Jenn Reece, Colleen Sheehan and my Editor Kerrie Schurr. But something has been stirring in the back of my mind - the idea for a new book! Now this delights me and challenges me. It means that I must get back into my writing routine which is a real challenge as I travel to Sydney to cover as a GP locum in a busy Medical Practice. It's early days and I will have to do a lot of reading and research, but I'm excited! Spread the word about Mr Dickens - the Kobi link is on the website - and do let me have your feedback. It's very important to me. Categories: Beth Justino, Jenn Reece, Colleen Sheehan, Kerrie Schurr, Mr Dickens

Life is all about taking on new challenges - some of which we actually get to choose!
I've been working with Jenn Reese - inspired book cover illustrator: ColleenSheehan - internal designer of best selling books: Kerrie Schurr my patient, wise editor, and the wonderful Beth Justino - publicist extraordinaire! Which means that next week should see the release of the eBook version of Mr Dickens. There has been a great deal going on in our family life too which has enriched us in so many ways. I hope you enjoy the book on its electronic release. It'll take you to places that you'd never ever dreamt of. I came to a fork in the road and, for a change, I've decided to take the well trodden path - the path of an author!
Life is a great adventure, but you have to expect some tough times too. Storytelling has always been the way we've passed on accumulated wisdoms from one generation to the next. It's also about sharing the good stuff as well as the bad things that can happen too! (That's why fairy stories can be pretty scary.) Reading is a very personal thing and I've no idea whether you'll find my stories "good" or "bad:" but that's not the point. What matters is that they take you to a different place and a different time where you can see the world from a different perspective. I've love to get your feedback because what you say is just as important - and valid - as what I say. So, dare to open one of my books. There are adventures to be had. After all, that's what life is all about. |
